Recently we had the pleasure of dining at the all new “Sugars” Stage & Spirits located
pretty much at the corner of 987 (Airport Rd’s end) and Point Phillips Road in Bath PA! The former Klecknersville Hotel has been a staple in the Valley for decades and Sugars did an amazing job with their own personal remodel, yet keeping the integrity of the building intact! We were all very much into Sugars 50’s Pin Up Girl Vibe when we got into the foyer. Continue Reading

YAY! Allentown Restaurant week is upon us! It’s like a food
lovers Christmas and birthday all wrapped up into one delicious week. This week was a hard choice to pick where we would eat. All the different restaurants sounded so good! We picked a place neither my wife nor myself had ever heard of, looked up the reviews on line, checked the menu for the week and headed out.
Downtown Allentown is trying with all its might to clean up and bring people out. I think without the influx of new restaurants it wouldn’t be anywhere near what it is today. It turns out that Bay Leaf has been in the same area for a very long time. We got here at about 6:30pm and found a parking space right in front. The meters are free after 6 so we didn’t have to fool around with change and headed right in. Bay Leaf touts itself as New American food with a Thai influence. The décor gives you exactly that feeling too. Very contemporary with a definite Asian touch. We had a choice of seat and decided on a seat next to the front window. If there’s one thing I like as much as food and drink it’s people watching. Continue Reading
Midtown Tavern & Ristorante is a hidden GEM in Alpha, NJ! I just knew before I got there that it was going to be a cozy little place
with a ton of great things to choose from on their menu. I don’t know why…I just did. I was right! Rosie and John own MTT but I unfortunately missed Rosie the night my wife and I were in! John however was there and the second we were introduced he became someone I could have known for 20 years! It’s always wonderful when you see the owners of an establishment in the actual buisness cooking, talking to patrons, and just giving off the vibe that their final touch is on everything! It brings it all back back to comfort food!
For starters, E and I had a mixture of homemade apps from Midtown Tavern. When I saw Fire Island Clams on the menu, I knew I had to try them. Fire?…yes please! Clams stuffed with a secret sauce, shrimp, crab, and more! I never saw it on a menu anywhere before and it was awesome! We also had their Famous Thin Crust Bar Pizza because well…it’s pizza! Good choice! They have A LOT of pizza to choose from. Take your pick! Jill suggested the Homemade Chicken Quesadillas and we were both glad she did. Leave it at that. They could be a whole meal themselves!
I’ve always heard of the legendary Farmhouse Restaurant in Emmaus, PA, over the past ten years and when I dined there recently, I wanted to kick myself for not ever trying this establishment years earlier! The Farmhouse, for those of you who do not know, is located on Chestnut Street in Emmaus on the same piece of land that used to be home to Indian Creek Golf Club. You literally take Cedar Crest Boulevard to the end of the line into Emmaus, turn right, and it’s a few hundred yards on your right hand side.
The Farmhouse is an original home built in the 18th century and pretty much ALL of the original home still stands and it is breathtaking as you walk around the 3 level restaurant. The basement leads out to an outdoor dining patio and also located in the lower level is an English Style Pub that is one of the quaintest bars I’ve ever seen. Michelle, co-owner of The Farmhouse has built a wine and beer list better than ANY restaurant I honestly have EVER been to. I’m not talking about just a lot of drinks, I’m talking about the quality and variety of drinks from all over Europe and the world that you can’t even get anywhere else! Our waiter, Greg honestly knows more about wine then anyone I’ve ever met at a restaurant. He is a great server and just a master of knowledge when it comes to the drink list! I highly recommend asking for him when you go!
