DeLorenzo’s-Easton, PA

Category : Easton, Pennsylvania, The Lehigh Valley

Marlene, Ernie, Cheryl, and the Family were so gracious and welcoming when we arrived for dinner at deLorenzo’s. I’m not sure if you know this or not, but Sam Malone of Cat Country 96.1 goes there often, and he said the first time he ever walked into deLorenzo’s, it reminded him of special holidays at his grandmother’s house.  It was kind of a melting pot of CAT Country 96 staff the night we dined at deLerenzo’s as George King and his lovely wife Linda joined my wife  and I. We actually JUST MISSED Sam Malone and his family by only 15 minutes!

The drink menu at deLorenzo’s is extensive and they have numerous nightly specialty drinks. Marlene calls the drink menu, ‘The Goodie Book’! (And yes it is!) Their wine selection is also extensive. We had a virtual buffet of appetizers. The Italian Wedding Soup is made fresh every morning and the little Italian meatballs they roll for the soup are so cute…and delicious.  We shared a half Margherita Pizza and a half Import Pizza with artichoke hearts, roasted peppers, prosciutto and goat cheese!  deLorenzo’s pizzas are prepared on a grill and the smokiness and crispiness of them makes them one of a kind!  George King was all about the Mozzarella Corozza and I had to agree with him! Kristy O’Brian, our WLEV/CAT Country traffic gal, has also had them and they are her favorite I have since learned. Deep fried bread and mozzarella with tomato sauce and ricotta, caper mix? Yes please! We all then shared Calamari deLorenzo, which comes sautéed or fried in a SPICY lemon butter sauce with hot peppers and capers.

For dinner, George, Linda, my wife and I continued with Marlene’s fantastic homemade cooking. My wife had an oversized portion of Mama’s Lasagna which Mama makes EVERY morning from scratch at deLorenzo’s. I FINALLY discovered what true Sunday Gravy is! I’ve heard Sam talk about it a lot and it was amazing. George and Marlene had a little learning session for me right at the table and George also had the Gravy.  I will never call “Gravy”, sauce again! Meatball, sausage, braciole, and pork bones all make up this dish and it’s thick, full of flavors, and nothing even close to a ‘sauce’! It’s Gravy!  Linda enjoyed deLorenzo’s homemade Cheese Ravioli and anything with cheese from deLorenzo’s is top notch!

Dessert was fabulous! The Cannolis and Tiramisu are homemade daily and simply melt in your mouth. I had “Italian” Cheesecake for the first time and I like it better than regular cheesecake. Go figure!  The Puff Pastry we all enjoyed also, especially with that Hazelnut Custard.

All in all deLorenzo’s was fantastic and they really do make you feel like you’re walking right into their home to enjoy a homemade dinner with their family. They even have dishes named after their children and family members and Chicken Briana sounds like perfection! (I’m told it’s a ‘sassy’ dish, according to Cheryl.)

Thank you for opening up your home to the Cat Crew and of course the Gourmet Guy.  Please do visit them for lunch or dinner and look into dates when they have live music and be sure to see J.T. Carter who is the very famous singer who sang “Sixteen Candles” and is the cousin of Gladys Knight. He performs every other weekend at deLorenzo’s and is very talented and such a sweet guy!  Thanks Mama!
